THE BENEFITS FOR JOJOBA OIL FOR HAIR

Curly girls, let’s talk natural oils. You probably already know that your scalp produces natural oils to keep our hair moisturized and healthy… but these oils don’t always make it all the way down our strands. That’s why our scalps can feel like they need a good scrub while our ends are dry and frizzy. This is especially true for Type 3 hair, because the unique structure of the s-like curve can trap natural oils and lead to inconsistent moisture levels from root to tip, which means not just our ends but our curls themselves can look dry and frizzy. Not exactly the look we were going for. At Aussie, we have a few solutions for this, but one of the best and easiest is to add natural oils back into hair in the form of Jojoba Oil. Jojoba Oil and curly hair are a match made in hair heaven. Read on to learn how to use this great ingredient, and what Jojoba Oil can do for your ‘do.

What is Jojoba Oil?

Jojoba is a shrub that grows wild in Northern Mexico and the Southwestern US. Its waxy leaves and deep roots help it survive in the hot, dry conditions, but it’s the seeds we’re interested in. Jojoba Oil comes from the nutrient-dense jojoba seeds after they’re harvested, pressed, and distilled. It’s then mixed into a variety of our haircare products formulas, helping make great products that add serious moisture and shine.

The benefits of Jojoba Oil for hair

Jojoba Oil has many benefits, especially for curly hair.

  1. It moisturizes hard-to-reach areas of your curls. a. Like we talked about above, natural oils have a hard time traveling down the structure of a curl – and this is especially true for Type 3 hair. By physically combing (or finger-combing) Jojoba Oil into our curls, we can make sure to moisturize those dry spots that don’t normally get the benefits from our natural oily hydrators.

  2. It reduces frizz and defines curls. a. As we’ve all experienced, the dryer our hair is, the frizzier and more undefined our curls become. By adding moisture back into our hair, we can help our curls maintain their shape and shine.

  3. It balances your scalp. a. If you’ve got an oily scalp and dry ends, you know the struggle of trying to balance keeping your scalp happy and keeping your hair happy. Studies have shown that by adding oils to our scalp when we wash and style, it often produces fewer natural oils, which can help maintain your scalp/hair balance.
