Daily exposure to the level of benzene detected would not be expected to cause adverse health consequences and we are conducting this recall out of an abundance of caution.
What should I do if I have impacted product?
What is Benzene?
Benzene is a chemical compound released to the environment by both natural and industrial sources. It is classified as a human carcinogen, a substance that could potentially cause cancer depending on the level and extent of exposure. Benzene is ubiquitous in the environment. Humans around the world have daily exposures to it indoors and outdoors from multiple sources. Benzene can be absorbed, to varying degrees, by inhalation, through the skin, and orally. Based on exposure modeling and the cancer risk assessments published under the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) (IRIS database), daily exposure to benzene in the recalled products at the levels detected in our testing would not be expected to cause adverse health consequences. That said, out of an abundance of caution, we are voluntarily recalling these aerosol dry conditioner spray products and aerosol dry shampoo spray products. Nothing is more important to us than the safety of the consumers who use our products and the quality of the products we ship.
Consumers should stop using these aerosol products and appropriately discard them. Please follow your local disposal procedure for aerosol products. Information can be found through your local waste management services.
Adverse reactions or quality problems experienced with the use of this product may be reported to the FDA’s MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program either online, by regular mail or by fax.
This recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Does this recall impact Aussie liquid shampoos, liquid conditioners, hairsprays, styling products or treatments? No. All other Aussie products are not impacted by the scope of this recall and may continue to be used as intended.

Should I be concerned? We initiated this voluntary recall out of an abundance of caution. Daily exposure to benzene in these aerosol dry conditioner spray products and aerosol dry shampoo spray products at the levels detected in our testing would not be expected to cause adverse health consequences.
